Alexandre Petitclerc is currently a PhD candidate at the philosophy department of the Université de Montréal. He holds a BA in Political Science and Philosophy from McGill University and an MA in Philosophy from the Université de Montréal.
His research questions the impact of socio-economic inequalities on access to civil rights and liberties. As part of his thesis, he aims to establish that social rights play a necessary role for access to civil rights and freedoms. The research explores which organization can be held responsible for the establishment and respect of social rights. This implies a reflection on the management of these rights by renewed forms of judicial institutions.
Alexandre’s work demonstrates a longstanding commitment to fighting for equal opportunities. For the past decade, he has been committed to advancing social justice through student associations, community groups and public speaking. His multidisciplinary approach, at the intersection of philosophy, social sciences and law, extends as much to scientific research as to the production of artistic content aimed at stimulating citizen conversation.
